How much will it cost?
Cost is obviously a significant factor when considering a contractor to perform a number of technical services.
Often times I've found working with a flat rate per project is ideal for both client and contractor, as we can both budget what's reasonable.
Not surprisingly, every job is different and thus must be priced accordingly. I've often found that I'm not the cheapest contractor available (those wild and crazy kids in Vietnam usually have me beat), but consider my 8 years of experience, an A-list client roll, and the diversity of the projects I've consulted on and my fees usually seem quite reasonable.
Like many things, often times you'll get what you pay for when shopping for a contractor, and the cheapest is probably the cheapest for a very good reason.
How fast are you?
Full site design and development often take months, while individual assignments can be completed in days or weeks.
Is this a real company?
Erova Studios LLC is a registered limited liability company in the state of Maryland.
Do you have references?
Of course. Contact me to discuss your project and I'll assemble the appropriate references.
I'm a recruiter with a 3 month gig in Wayne, Indiana for a WebMethods contract. Are you interested?
Absolutely not. I suggest all recruiters read my actual resume and realize that WebMethods was a client of mine, and I've never used their software. Ever. Needless to say, selling my house and moving to Indy for a few months is unlikely, and no, I do not know anyone else who might be interested.
Are you a programmer or a designer?
Depends on the job, depends on what you need. I can build a functional, effective site using such technologies as PHP, MySQL, SQL, ColdFusion, and JavaScript, but I'm not a DBA and have no interest in learning those tools for that trade. That being said, I can take the concepts in your head and put them on a screen, and make them work the way they should...
Do you work by yourself?
Often times yes, unless the task is far removed from my specialization. For instance, I managed the outsourced design and production of a magazine cover and layout for the Georgetown Public Policy Review.
Can you build something I can update myself?
Usually yes, depending on your needs and your budget. For simpler sites I may recommend Adobe Contribute; other sites could benefit from an off-the-shelf content management system, and some sites require a customized content management system built spefically for the tasks required.
I don't need a whole website, but I have a blog/myspace page/resume site I want dressed up. Can you help?
Of course. I'm familiar with numerous blogging platforms (Wordpress and TextPattern to name a few...) and the limitations of MySpace page design.
My former contractor isn't working out. Can you clean up his mess and take over mid-project?
This wouldn't be the first time I've been called in to clean up and move forward. Let's talk.
I need a web site but want to choose between 3 or 4 designs before I decide who I want to award the project and start writing checks. Interested?
Nope, but I will gladly write a proposal once you tell me your budget and your timeline, and then, following a deposit and contract, we can work together to arrive at a design that will define and promote your organization.
Do you have your own equipment?
Yes. I have an Apple Macbook Pro with registered, legitimate software licenses. I also use a Canon Digital Rebel DSLR camera for photography and keep a thesaurus and my English degree handy for content writing.
Will I have to pay for anything additional to use or update what you build?
That depends. Unless you already have a website, chances are you'll have to pay for web hosting. Depending on the project, there may be times when you will be responsible for such expenses as stock photography, additional fonts, sound tracks, video clips, etc.
I'm a starving artist/photographer/restauranteur but need a site to help promote by services. Can we barter?
Absolutely...please keep in mind bartering means we base the value of our services in wholesale or at-cost terms, not retail...
